I still consider Comic-Con an insidious and reductive force in pop culture. But I had a super time watching Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan's Hope.

That is one hell of a feel-good movie. Perhaps I'm incapable of being unbiased since I went to last year's glorious San Diego Comic-Con and have everything ready to go for this year as well. But these are some great stories, everything is cut together really well, and dammit I just had this huge smile on my face the entire time. An amazing experience and I hope this movie explains a bit of the magic to those who don't get it.

A great look at many aspects of Comic-Con and it's great fans... it makes me appreciate the event all the more because of how massive it is and how it meets the needs of all fans of all shapes and sizes. It was a little jarring getting involved with someone's story and then getting interrupted with a celebrity or comic book artist, but overall it captures the fun and magic of Comic-Con, and makes me want to go back all the more.

I really enjoyed this documentary. I dream of attending the San Diego comic con someday, and this documentary attempted to show the many different sides of the convention while also examining how the convention has changed over the years and why it's important to so many people. The star feedback sections are insightful, and Kevin Smith is hilarious, but it's awesome to see how and why this culture is cool, and how it impacts the lives of both the young and the old by capturing our imaginations, and bringing us together.
