A psychic seemingly dies of fright during a séance where she sees a vision of a Dunwich priest hanging himself in a church cemetery. New York City reporter Peter Bell investigates and learns that the priest's suicide has somehow opened a portal to Hell that must be sealed by All Saints Day, or else the dead will overtake humanity.

Some scenes are so macabre,disgusting & gory.This film it so scary & very creepy.The girl crying blood gave me chills.

I remember buying The Gates of Hell on VHS for $5 and seeing it for the first time in high school. The thing I really enjoyed about it was Fulci's gore fx... They were far to real. Despite the poor dubbing and cheesy music I really did find it to be an over all decent zombie flick.

While not as great as Zombi 2 or The Beyond, this is another awesome entry in Fulci's oeuvre. His directorial aesthetic is dead on in this one. I found the ending to be a bit of a letdown, but the evil priest, vomiting up guts, inexplicable inflatable dolls, etc. all keep you glued to the screen.

One of Fulci's most under rated films. Heavily influenced by Edgar Alan Poe, the lack of logic and dream like feel adds to the suspense and feeling of dread. Some people will find the violence just to full on but it's beautifuly lit and photographed. The UK bluray is packed full of extras, postcards, posters and a booklet. A superb hi def transfer, this film has never looked or sounded better.
