After the success of the live 1957 Cinderella on CBS (with Julie Andrews), the network decided to produce another television version. The new script hewed closer to the traditional tale, although nearly all of the original songs were retained and performed in their original settings. Added to the Rodgers and Hammerstein score was "Loneliness of Evening", which had been composed for South Pacific but not used.

i watched this alot as a kid, and just recently found an old VHS tape we taped from TV.

Lesley Ann Warren is a wonderful Cinderella, Stuart Damon a fantastic prince, and the rest of the veteran cast are just as splendid in this spirited retelling of the famus fairy tale. However, much like the original version of this musical staring Julie Andews, the script is dreadful, filled with such childish dialouge and boring conflicts that the story and characters are not allowed to grow. The music is still just as beautiful and brilliant this time around. This was followed by a lackluster third version of the musical staring a fantastic Brandy and a coked out Whitney Houston. Great, campy fun for the kids and nostalgic adults.

Sadly, I have seen this. Don't waste your time, Lesley Ann Warren sucks as Cinderella and sounds terrible. This was so boring. Do yourself a favor and get the Julie Andrew version, or even Brandy's if your feeling adventurous.
