After the success of the live 1957 Cinderella on CBS (with Julie Andrews), the network decided to produce another television version. The new script hewed closer to the traditional tale, although nearly all of the original songs were retained and performed in their original settings. Added to the Rodgers and Hammerstein score was "Loneliness of Evening", which had been composed for South Pacific but not used.

This is my favorite version of this story... the music is hilarious! "...and with very little trouble, I can break her little arm..." (Ugly Stepsister or Evil Stepmother -- don't remember-- sings about why the prince would want to be with that girl and not prefer them!?!)

the acting wasn't as good as the original from 1957 and the scenery and setting wern't as nice but its still a well done musical. its just hard to top julie andrews

The definitive musical Cinderella [for] its fidelity to the climax of Perrault's tale, altered both in the Disney version (cleverly) and in the 1957 version (misguidedly).

Since childhood this has always been my favorite version. I can still sing all the songs. Leslie Ann Warren does an awesome performance! For the period the movie was made in the choreography and costumes were great. This is the version that will always remain in my heart.

I so love this version of Cinderella. I remember watching it when I was a kid. Lesley Ann Warren was the most beautiful Cinderella and Stuart Damon was such a gorgeous Prince Charming. The lines from "Impossible" are some of my favorites. The world is full of zanies and fools who don't believe in sensible rules - who don't believe what sensible people say. And because these daft and dewy-eyed dopes keep building up impossible hopes, impossible things are happening every day!
