Absolutely gorgeous movie! This couples love was so beautiful and can only be admired. My most favourite part was the ending where we are told that he finally realised that she was the only woman that was meant to love him completely... If only all could have their blinds lifted at some point in their lives preferably sooner then later to save each other a lot of heart ache and misery.

An adaptation of the 1920s novel by French author Colette about the lingering effects of a romance between a middle-aged woman (Pfeiffer) and a wealthy young man (Friend). Set in 1920s Paris, where the young son of a wealthy courtesan (Bates) is educated in the ways of love by a middle-aged friend of the man's mother. Excellent period piece with a magnificent performance by Michelle Pfeiffer (who should snag an Oscar nod). Kathy Bates provides solid support with a good performance from Rupert Friend as the love interest. The two things I didn't like where the narrator (though it didn't bother me) and some of the underscoring in the film. At times it sounded like it was a horror movie rather than a romance/drama. But overall excellent!

J'ai bien aime ce film base sur les romans de Colette. La reconstitution historique, les costumes et les decors sont tres bien reussi. L'histoire est vraiment excellente, de meme que le jeux des acteurs. A voir
