The movie’s most enjoyable moments are the brief instances when Ferrara himself intrudes on the scene.

An enraptured fantasia of high times at the hotel, the film is so intoxicated with the Chelsea’s bohemian mystique it virtually consumes itself.

This is Ferrara's first documentary since 1977, and it has the crackbrained air of menace and the ferocious humor that mark his fictional works.

As a documentary it's very unorthodox and perhaps a bit confusing. Abel Ferrara has a weird habit of interrupting the interviewees with his own drunken ramblings. The Vietman story included was very touching though.
