This biopic tells the true story of Korean boxer Kim Deuk-gu. Born into poverty, Kim used boxing to free himself from his bleak surroundings, eventually becoming the world's top lightweight. Tragically, Kim's life was cut short when he died from a blood clot in his brain during a championship fight with Ray Boom Boom Mancini.

I do love a good boxing movie! Even though this movie didn't seem to have the biggest budget, I think that they did a really decent job. I didn't know anything about this particular boxer until this movie, so I went in blind....and found myself in complete suspense the last 45 min, or so. Enjoyable, memorable, and inspiring Korean film.

Korean Rocky.. except that it's based on a true story, and Kim Deuk-gu doesn't win the championship fight against Ray Mancini. Instead, he dies!! immediately from a bloodclot in his brain that is a result of the fight. Will a Korean protagonistic character ever survive or enjoy a happy ending? I haven't seen it yet.

true story about a boxers heart, with utterly superb fight scenes and emotive and immersive plot. its pretty much everything rocky aint.
