Amazingly breath taking, it is something we should all be aware of... I am so grateful for this documentary being made and shared... We hear about the caves, but only are given snap shots, this is amazing...

This 3D documentary about the adventures of finding cave drawings, presumably drawn by neanderthal's over 10,000 years ago, is arguably one of the most intriguing films of it's kind. The drawings are that of animals which we would see in our current everyday lives, which is amazing due to the fact that they were discovered much before any of these animals/creatures existed. The 3D is spectacular and definitely brings you right through the caves with the explorers as they make their fascinating discoveries. I must add that this film feels much longer than it actually is and if you are not interested after the first 30 minutes, then the rest of the film will put you to sleep. That being said, I was interested the entire way through, so it is probably the most boring piece of "masterful cinema" ever made. Everything in this film is beautiful. From the cinematography, to the wise cracks, to the stunning 3D depth, to the editing, "Cave of Forgotten Dreams" is a must see. Simply breathtaking!

This was a really interesting documentary from a man who is a master filmmaker - Werner herzog. How informative and contemplative this is WOW !! the 3D actually works here for a change. It was shot on a very small mobile camera so as not too damage anything inside the cave. Drawing's date back as far as 30,000 yrs ago !!! They are so life like and well detailed it's astonishing. It really is the start of painting and also of art itself too. i have to say Herzog comes out with some very funny statement's and observations in this but that's the way he does this type of film. Very highly recommended !!!

Excellent movie, especially for the Homo spiritualis among us (although it's great for those of us who are Homo sapiens too!).

The latest documentary from director Werner Herzog is a cinematic masterpiece, one of the greatest documentaries of the past decade. Every on-screen appearence of the cave paintings is truly mesmerising. The scene with a man playing the Star Spangled Banner is absolutely hilarious. The real highlight is the 3D. In what I think is the best use of technology so far, we see the real depth the cave paintings had, which gives you the feel that you're actually in the cave with Herzog and company, and the scene in which a man demonstrates how Ug the caveman fired arrows is outstanding. I went to see this twice. That is how brilliant I was.
