See this movie in 3D! Really amazing images. Well worth waiting in line to get in. A great example of the potential of 3D. But the true star of the show is the artist who painted the cave images 32,000 years ago. Hughly recommended!

Werner Herzog proves that 3D can pack a major cultural punch in this fantastic and engrossing documentary about the prehistoric cave paintings in Chauvet France. Largely inaccessible to anyone but researchers and scientists, the paintings come to life in a way that traditional film or photography could never realize. Herzog's haunting narration and observations are just the right tone for this masterful triumph matchup of form and technology.

A boys footprint next to ones from a wolf - but we do not know if they were there at the same time or thousands of years apart...

I could honestly find no fault with this film. I loved the visuals, loved the interviews, loved the music, loved the 3-D. But I think the strongest selling point for the film is its incredible subject matter. See it 3-D at the theater if you can.

Take two incredibly interesting subjects: Chauvet Cave in France and Werner Herzog, combine the two and you have 100% pure fucking gold! This is seriously the best documentary i have seen from Herzog. There is never anything quite like a Herzog Doc. He can make a documentary about a model paint factory in Idaho and it would be the most interesting film you could see. But here he has what is probably the greatest find in my lifetime, Chauvet Cave in France which holds 30,000 year old artwork. Naturally Herzog makes an already great subject into a dreamy and powerful film. Call me a bitch but this film had me swallowing back a lump in my throat. And anybody that can do that to me just by showing me a cave painting with some gorgeous strings music is a genius in my book. Or maybe iam just a pussy.
