Call Northside 777 (1948)

In 1932, a cop is killed and Frank Wiecek sentenced to life. Eleven years later, a newspaper ad by Frank's mother leads Chicago reporter P.J. McNeal to look into the case. For some time, McNeal continues to believe Frank guilty. But when he starts to change his mind, he meets increased resistance from authorities unwilling to be proved wrong.

This was on TV, I was on the couch. Some guy killed a cop, only he didn't. James Stewart looked at some old records in a police warehouse and was very moral. A solid film, although, it could have done with some jazzier music and more casual nudity.

Classic Jimmy Stewart flick filmed a year after It's a Wonderful Life. Playing a newspaper reporter who tries to free an innocent man from jail, Stewart interviews dozens of witnesses without taking a singe note! Remarkable memory!

Now this is what I'm talking about. Classic Hollywood newspaper flick. Fantastic photography and lighting. James Stewart is brilliant as the reporter. They don't make them like this no more...

You just can't do much better than Jimmy Stewart. Great film about the reporter chasing the story and vindicating an innocent man. Kasia Orzazewski was absolutely heart-breaking as Tillie Wiecek. Gets me every time.
