Ayed Morrar organizes a Gandhi-esque resistance to Israeli expansion into Palestine. This powerful documentary captures the strength of the Palestinian people and serves as a welcome response to those critics who argue that the Palestinians exclusively resist their colonization through violence. Morrar emerges as a simple, honest, and austere man, and though the film drags at times, the overall message rings resoundingly. Overall, it's good to see a positive story of resistance coming from this area of intractable differences.

This documentary tells one story about a small village, Budrus located in the Occupied West Bank. Israeli soldiers arrive to build a barrier fence that will run right through their land including uprooting their beloved olive trees. Ayed Morrar organized a group of men to hold a non-violent demonstration to block the bulldozers brought in to tear down trees and clear the land. Their efforts were not too successful. His 15 year old daughter said, "Where are the women?" She understood how women could bring a new dynamic to their protest. This film is a great example of how peace can be achieved with bi-partisan support. It's sad to see how politics becomes a barrier to peace, but hopeful to see how human beings can overcome those forces.

As Cinema and Entertainment this movie gets pretty low marks, However information was delivered somewhat well...The film doesn't really work as any sort of explanation of the actual Israeli Palestinian conflict, it being far too old and wide spread, however it IS a nice look at taking matters into your own hand and not being content with what government hands you!

Morrar is the kind of man who pursues collective social progress rather than headlines or offices. He is the governor or congressman we wish we all had but never do.
