Brave Story (2006)

Jr. High School Student Wataru and his friends like playing in an abandond building and looking for ghosts. However it seems he is not the only one. Another mysterious student Mitsuru shows Wataru that there is a magical door to another world where one can go and get the Goddess of Fortune to grant one wish! When tragedy strikes Wataru's family he decides to open the door for himself.

vastly underated, deserves a bigger showing than it received, pity it went under the radar

This is a reasonably strong anime fantasy-adventure film. In typical Japanese fashion, it's a bit on the surreal side (but not overly) and has a totally overdone dramatic ending. There's a few examples of dodgey 3D CGI, but otherwise it's quite lush and lovely to look at. Brave Story is a weird title -- maybe it loses something in translation. For much of the film, the hero, Wataru, is wearing a dorky looking helmet thing, which i got the impression was meant to look kinda cool -- maybe Japanese audiences perceive it differently. I was gonna give it 3.5 stars, but there is a gorgeous cat-girl in it... so i'll give it 4 ;)

the story was not so bad. but voice actors/actresses were basically famous japanese celebrities, which distracted me.

WOW! no veia una peliÂcula asi desde hace siglos, esta bastante buena, es como una mezcla de dungeons and dragons con the neverending story, trae un mensaje bastante potente y un final impresionante, creo que este es una de esas peliculas para todas las edades, jaja.
