On the night of Oct. 2, 2005, Hart and Dana Perry's 15-year-old son Evan jumped to his death from his New York City bedroom window. This moving film is the story, told by his filmmaker parents and others who knew him, of Evan's life and death, and his life-long struggle with bipolar disorder. It delves into the complexity of Evan's disease, sharing his family's journey through the maze of mental illness. In showing how one family deals with generations of loss and grief, the film defies the stigma related to mental illness and suicide and tells a human story that touches everyone.

This was a fantastic movie! It was so sad, and you really feel for the parents. The psychologist was very cold and I didn't like him at all.

Wonderful documentary about a family dealing with their child's mental illness that eventually leads to his sucide. The movie follows the child's life from his parents view and discusses in detail how he and his family deals with him having bi-polar. This movie will engross you and you will utimaletly feel for this family. I recommend that people dealing with bi-polar, depression and sucide watch it.

A very well made documentary about a very sensitive topic. It speaks very deeply about an aspect of American society which is not discussed very often. Emotion would not let me take my eyes off the screen as my heart was filled with sorrow for a family who did their best and a boy who lost his life much too early. Evan and I were the same age and I could not help but feel a connection to him and I wish that I could have known him and somehow affected his life. R.I.P. Evan.
