Blood Brothers (1973)

Set in the waning years of the Ching Dyansty, this dramatic, tragic, romantic, blood-soaked martial arts tale of betrayal and revenge explores one of the most sensational scandals in Chinese history and marked the true ascension of its director and actors to superstar status. can exactly tell what will be going on after 5 minutes. if not for the actor/actress, the ranking could be even worse.

A remake of John Woo's Bullet in the Head in 1930s Shanghai... it's even produced by John Woo... but doesn't live up to the original. Three brothers leave their small village behind for the glamor of Shanghai, only to be conveniently drawn into the inner circle of the biggest criminal in the city. A plot that has been done before in numerous other films (and not just BiTH). I always enjoy Daniel Wu however the ending does not make up for the beginning which starts off slow to set up all of the characters.

Some good acting. Heavy emphasis on character development tied the story together. But that development was limited to just 1 or the many key players. Much of the plot just didn't make sense!

it is only worth 1 star becos of the hot guys starring in this movie.. the storyline was thin...... no climax at all becos all the complexities of any relationships (whether it was brotherly love or romance) lacked details..i expected more since it was John Woo... 0_0

interesting... :o) unfortunately, i didn't have my glasses on, so i couldn't read the subtitles. but brandon brought me up to speed and the imagery was entertaining enough for a nice evening of computing and watching at the same time.
