David Blair directs this powerful British Drama, loosely inspired by John Steinbeck's novel 'Of Mice and Men'. Set in Nottingham, the film revolves around the relationship between the thuggish Danny (Stephen Graham) and Joseph (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), a giant of a man with a mental age of seven. When Danny finds himself in debt to a local crime boss, he feels he is left with no choice but to manipulate Joseph into participating in a series of underground cage fights from which Danny can pay his debts.

It isn't the smoothest transition but strong performances from Stephen Graham and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje keep the idea afloat.

A gritty contemporary reenvisioning of Steinbeck's 'Of Mice and Men' which fails because Graham's version of the George character is fairly despicable. Steinbeck's story works because it is a story of friendship through difficult circumstances, but here the difficulties are largely self inflicted and the relationship is one of usage. At times also the tone of the picture moves away from sympathetic to almost contempt

What a great little hidden gem. Didn't know anything about this, and was really impressed. Great actors, and great characters. Stephen Graham was fantastic, as always. Really would recommend this. Always good to watch something you don't know anything about that turns out to be really good.

This used condom of frothy discharge fell way,way short of its predecessor 'Best laid Grans'. My displeasure was palpable as I sat in the premier seat of the picture house,with my cock in my hand, and a low budget gangster brit flick played out before my ebbing stiffy. Watch it if you want,I couldn't give a flying fuck.

is this a remake of.. of mice and men?? surely by the title it is... still thou i enjoyed it as a film. good cast just couldnt quite handle Ade as Joseph after seeing him in Lost.
