So many seemed profoundly to dislike this movie. I liked it. It's like the old multi-night mini-series - like "Roots," say - but still good, even poignant by the end. Usually I'm in line with the other Reviews 75% of the time; but this is one of the 25% I'm not..

It picks up for the last part, but this is mostly specialised film-making - specialised in making 18th century Canada look very boring.

I forced myself to watch this movie to the bitter end because I try to give all movies the benefit of the doubt. But there was NO doubt that this was a boring, confusing movie. Bad acting, lame dialogue, muddle plot. Saw it...'nuff said.
