I watched this solely for Velvet. Everything else was weird, but not really engagingly so.

Kervern et Delepine osent une petite allegorie dans ce Avida bien fichu, drole et sombre. Plus experimental que Altraa, l'humour est lui toujours aussi absurde (pas mal de references a J.Tati notamment), la forme depressive en moins. Le cinema francais trouve en Kervern et Delepine (du Groland) de nouveaux realisateurs qui osent jouer sur un terrain que trop de gens pensaient devenu infertile.

Avida, ne se raconte pas, ne rÃ©sume pas. Il y est vaguement question de l'enlÃ¨vement du chien d'une bourgeoise qui tourne mal, mais lÃ n'est pas l'essentiel. N'essayez pas de comprendre Avida, car il s'agit avant tout d'une expÃ©rience sensorielle. Laisser vous emporter par l'imagination et la folie de 2 crÃ©ateurs talentueux (Benoit Delepine et Gustave Kervern). Avida est rafraichissant, insolite, et prouve qu'il existe encore un cinÃ©ma libre, non formatÃ©. C'est rassurant. Ce qui l'est moins, c'est la frilositÃ© des distributeurs franÃ§ais. Ce film n'est projetÃ© que dans 30 salles en France.

Marvellous photography. Out of this world bizarreness. Beside its strange beauty, it's neither a "good" or "bad" movie, it's much more of an experiment you either are willing to observe or you aren't.
