On a small island off the California coast it's the Fourth of July and tourists are washing up dead in Babylon Bay, once again! In 1987, rumor has it that mysterious sea creatures called Aquanoids were responsible for 17 vicious deaths. The Mayor dispelled the sightings as urban legend to protect the local tourist trade. This film... is genius. It made me laugh, it made me cry, and it made me cry with laughter. I didn't really cry. Me and my friend Emlyn watched this film, and as soon as it finished pressed 'play' AGAIN, but were thwarted in our efforts by a third friend with less taste than us. I learnt some useful things during this film, namely, if you show your breasts you will die, and any bizarre mutant creature babies can be explained as a 'premature' normal baby, as well as the fact that if you want to reveal a monster to the world, the best way to do it is putting the indistinct photo of a hand in a newspaper, rather than the clear picture of the entire body and head you took at the same time. All in all, I would watch this movie again. But that doesn't mean it's good.
