I did not see this on the big screen in 2003 but only at home Dec 2008. I have been trying to catch up on all the Woody Allen movies I missed at the theater. This is an excellent movie and one of his best in many years. He has some new younger actors playing the the usual therapy angst romantic triangle plot. witty dialogue great NYC scenery. great philosophy ideas and conversation funny plot. Biggs and Rici are fantastic and so is Mr Allen's typical role. Woody Allen is the USA's greatest living film legend. He has written and directed 40 movies. I cant believe more people don't celebrate his creations. The fast dialogue and intellects of his movie are so that to really get a Woody Allen movie you really have to pay attention and listen!! His movies are not something you can play in the background at home and get any idea of what the movie was about. So it takes a little bit of dedication to make his movies work for you!! Take the time watch enjoy study!! highest recommendation five stars a really brilliant movie!1

If I were to say how richly and beautifully this film is, it should b a given because it was written, and directed, by the legendary Woody Allen. On the other hand, what's shocking to me was the acting. Christina Ricci is better in this film than the other three ladies who won Oscars under Allen's direction. She is at once a funny and terribly depressing person to be around. Jason Biggs is pretty much an impersonation of Allen in this film, which I can imagine, is hard to pull off. Danny DeVito's "heart attack" scene is pulled off with over-the-top, over-acting brilliance that only he can master. The story is a philosophical, "romantic" comedy that may or may not be one BIG joke. The questions that one have to answer are questions who you are, who you listen too, and who you trust. Love never seemed so ridiculous. Thank you Woody. And special thanks to QT for reminding us of a great film from a great director.

I was absolutely amazed of how well Jason Biggs reminds me of a younger Woody Allen, although not as witty and he is not a stand up comic by any means.

This film is extremely underrated, it's a hysterical and classic Woody Allen film, stylish and engaging. Jason Biggs is great in the lead, the character is played as very relatable and likeable. Him and Woody Allen just feed off of each other in a great pessimistic comedic duo that is downright hysterical. The rest of the cast is convincing as well, which is surprising because it doesn't seem promising at first glance. A neo-classic Allen film with rich, interesting characters and some of the funniest dialogue I've ever heard in any film.

it was kind of eerie to see american pie jason biggs emulate woody allen so accurately. christina ricci was uneven but she's completely gorgeous and i can understand why jason biggs is obsessed with her. evokes classic woody allen humor and falters at times but generally it's all good fun. i wouldn't consider it one of the better woody allen films but this is a movie where woody is thoroughly comfortable with his style and i think, in the later years, creates some variations. i want to hurt people who are all annie hall BLAH BLAH this and that. allen's not going to make another annie hall, but his style has always be the same. get over yourselves! all allen films are inherently the same and different.
