US indie movies are hit and miss, but Antarctica was funny, charming, and easy to understand despite all the WTF moments. Hilarious bit from the late Clark Middleton and excellent acting all around. Thumbs up for Antarctica and at 83 minutes I’d watch it again.

Antarctica is a rare gem that stands as one of this year’s best.

Roger Moore 24 Nov 2020

It’s another self-consciously odd, almost surreal “smirk” of a comedy about two misfits who aren’t just BFFs in Morgansfield High, they’re each others only friends. And how you take it depends on how easy a laugh you are.

I saw this film a few months ago at a test screening, and I have to say I was really impressed. It's a story about two girls in high school, who have a falling out and have to find their way back to each other, while learning who they are and what's important to them. The pairi of Chloë Levine, of Netflix's The OA and Adam (2019), and newcomer Kimie Muroya is spot on. They have such chemistry together, and the comedic moments hit hard. There is a surrealism to the film that, mixed with the magical realistic tone of the film, leaves much open to interpretation; more so than your average teen film.

Weird little charmer that has a lot going on. Dry humor, authentic feeling female friendship, splashes of surrealism. Sci-fi and romance mixed in with all the coming of age relationship stuff. Really enjoyed it, and it can't really compare to anything this year.
