Amar Akbar & Tony (2015)

Amar, Akbar & Tony follows the lives and loves of three childhood friends through twists and turns as the characters face sudden and unforeseen changes to their idealistic and trouble-free young lives. With hilarious and sometimes tragic consequences, the brotherly bond shared by the trio is forced to come to terms with some unexpected challenges. Interracial marriage, near fatal accidents and stints in prison will test old friendships and family values. A coming of age comedy drama showing the absurdities of life can also be the most amusing.

Amid the tonal uncertainly and occasionally blunt stereotyping, this is a likeable coming-of-age tale with both brains and heart.

Stefan Pape 14 Apr 2015

An incredibly convoluted piece of cinema, attempting to fit a million and one stories into this modest running time.

Mike McCahill 15 Apr 2015

Sunny location work helps west London's dual carriageways appear more appealing; elsewhere, the relentless bants and tail-chasing suggest Malhotra is none too ambitiously pursuing the post-pub Dapper Laughs crowd.

Rosalynn Try-Hane 20 Aug 2018

However, at some point in the film the focus shifted and I wasn't sure if it was still about the friendship between the three main protagonists or just a grittier, less fun version of East is East set in London and a decade later.
