As good as the original but slightly altered to fit in with the modern world. For instance, the abortion never took place and characters are more emotional this time around. Jude Law's Alfie wasn't as cruel as Sir Michael Caine's Alfie... it is a good picture overall.. anyone who enjoyed the original or even if you haven't seen the original you should give this film a shot.

Charming! It's got Jude Law, how couldn't it be charming? I've been wanting to see this movie for ages and I'm glad I finally did. The music is great! It was written for the movie and they did fabulously. The story is interesting, with twists and turns I only sometimes saw coming. Oh! and the cinematography. It was stunning! They play around with color and saturation in so many shots and it is so eye catching and stunning. Very artsy of the filmmakers! Oh, and it's one of those movies that makes you laugh and think. good good good.

What have I got? Really? Some money in my pocket, some nice threads, fancy car at my disposal, and I'm single. Yeah... unattached, free as a bird... I don't depend on nobody and nobody depends on me... My life's my own. But I don't have peace of mind. And if you don't have that, you've got nothing. So... what's the answer? That's what I keep asking myself. What's it all about? You know what I mean?

having read the book and adored the original i feel that this film was very true to the original theme but very cleverly updated to address the same emotional issues that people feel. the alfie in this version is as equally selfish and unpleasant as the Caine version, we have abortion which was illegal in the early 60's replaced by what he thinks was an abortion but really the lady gives birth to his child, much too sad witness the terrible pain that his best friend who is a lovely kind generous and trusting black guy feels...much the same as the AFLie Bass characer in the original except we only see that he is cuckolded while he is in hospital and its his wife that takes the agony and the guilt of adultery and abortion. I think its a brilliant film. i watched it with the intention of totally hating it but was pleasantly surprised
