3/9/16 HBO Winner 2016 Oscar for Best Documentary Short and well deserved. A fascinating and well told story of a strange but often invoked cultural phenomena of honor killings. Over 1,000 women a year in Pakistan are killed in this fashion by parents or relatives of women and girls who have "dishonored" their family. On the surface your first reaction is revulsion but this film does show the tremendous cultural pressure society brings in these cases. That in no way excuses the act but it is more complex than it seems. This is a great film and hopefully, it shines a light that might help turn this around and bring that society into the 21st century.

Very well done.....sad but that is to be expected. You really feel for this girl throughout and it is amazing to see the perspective of her parents and sister. I mean, you know the culture, but it is still shocking to see.
