Documentary about some amazing back up singers and the stars they have performed with. Lots of old footage from the 60's and 70's.

Amazing documentary featuring the most famous singers you've never heard of. Great stories and music. Oscar nominated for a reason. I had no idea Murtaugh's wife from Lethal Weapon was the most famous backup singer in history, Darlene Love. Loved hearing Wonder, Springsteen, Jagger, and Sting praise their talents. Wonderful subject and execution!

20 Feet From Stardom (2013) It is truly amazing how much uncelebrated talent exist in this world. We are truly blessed to live in a time where we have so much untapped talent, we simply can't keep up with it all. 20 FEET FROM STARDOM is truly superb and both my husband and myself enjoyed it tremendously. To see all of the roles that back up singers play in entertainment was fascinating. For instance, who knew that a professional singer was hired to make those bird calls you hear in AVATAR (Certainly not I, said the humble wife...)? My husband said halfway through "Babe! They even got Mick Jagger to pipe in on these women?" Yes Dear, and Bruce Springsteen and Sheila E. and a host of others, too many to name here. It seems that everyone with ears knows, loves and respects these gloriously talented women, who play such an essential role in the music and movies that so many of us love. Yes, anyone with ears would certainly give them their due - except us. 100% Wakefulness

The most engrossing, enriching and touching documentary I have seen in years. It made me FEEL music in new way through visualizations depicted by the singers. Music has always been the cornerstone of my personal perception of the world and this film has enhanced my experience of that by bringing the stories of this group of people into spotlight. Just like they put their hearts and souls into their craft on stage, they bared their souls with the audience of this film. Each of the singers featured allowed us to look into the most intimate relationship of their lives, their love affair with music. It was incredible to witness such a personal perspective. They shared it all, even overwhelming heartbreak with grace, composer and strength. I have a whole new respect and gratefulness to them and the sacrifices they made for their dreams.

'Twenty Feet From Stardom' is one of the greatest and most uplifting music documentaries of all time. The 90-minute film just swifts by and grabs a hold of you, taking you on a journey from of different point of view, and opens our heart to new musical heroes. Incredible talent and such an inspiring and powerful documentary. A must-see.
