Bob Sharkey, an instructor of would-be spies for the Allied Office of Strategic Services, becomes suspicious of one of the latest batch of students, Bill O'Connell, who is too good at espionage. His boss, Charles Gibson confirms that O'Connell is really a top German agent, but tells Sharkey to pass him, as they intend to feed the mole false information about the impending D-Day invasion.

i dunno... james cagney seems too small to take down nazis with his bare hands

This came out right after the end of WWII and was a bit of a propaganda device in a way to show how the Allies won the war. It begins as sort of a documentary feel and they sprinkle that in throughout. James Cagney plays a head of the counterintelligence unit who trains spies and ultimately must track down a double agent. He's an interesting choice to play a man who is supposed to speak 5 languages and be one of America's greatest athletes. No matter what country he's in he still speaks with his famous rat-a-tat delivery and thick American accent. Overall this was a fairly entertaining film and featured some fine performances. Not one of Cagneys best but not bad.

Mission Impossible 40's style ;) Pretty funny WW2 thriller of American secret agents going behind enemy lines in the invaded France. All characters (no matter German, French or Dutch) speaking English bugged me as well as the overwhelmed "Americans will save the world" attitude. The non-Hollywood ending gets credits from me though.

Good war thriller, fine cast but James Cagney isn't quite convincing. Intriguing story and it's well written. Suspenseful and it has a rousing score. 6.5/10.
